Many of the churches throughout Mercer County minister to those who are hungry through the Churches of Mercer Food Pantry located at 1200 S. College Avenue. Trinity is one of the active supporting churches. Usually 2 or 3 weeks each year, we have the opportunity to volunteer with this mercy ministry, in addition to our financial support and food donations. Volunteering consists of stacking and sorting food items, filling boxes, carrying food to vehicles, and conversing with clients. This also offers ample opportunity to share the love and gospel of Jesus Christ.
Normally, once per month, on the fourth Thursday of the month, a truck shipment arrives with federal government commodities and food items purchased from River Bend Food Pantry in the Quad Cities. Several of Trinity’s members and friends regularly volunteer to help unload the truck.
Jay and Vickie Hansen and Ron Melvin serve as the points of contact for Trinity Church to the Food Pantry.
Throughout 2018, we will continue to collect food donations for the pantry on the Third Sunday of each month.
Pastor Dietmeier continues to serve as a member of the Executive Board of the Food Pantry.
